Barbil (Orissa Today) – In a dramatic turn of events, two soldiers sustained injuries during an intense encounter with Naxalites in the dense forests of Chaibasa. The clash, marked by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast, unfolded in the Jarai Kela area, where security forces were conducting a search operation.
The injured personnel, identified as Head Constable Vishnu Saini from CoBRA 203 Battalion and Constable Sunil Dhan from Jharkhand Jaguar, were airlifted to Ranchi for advanced medical treatment. Reports indicate that Constable Dhan’s condition is critical, while Head Constable Saini is stable.
DIG Manoj Ratan Chothe confirmed that the operation was initiated based on intelligence inputs about Naxalite activity in the region. The encounter involved multiple rounds of gunfire, with Naxalites deploying IEDs to inflict damage on security forces. Despite the injuries, the forces retaliated effectively, ensuring the safety of their team.
This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by security personnel in combating Naxal insurgency in Jharkhand’s remote areas. Authorities have intensified operations in the region, aiming to dismantle insurgent networks and restore peace.
