Former lady CDPO sentenced to 3 years RI and Rs.20,000 fine in a corruption case

Bhubaneswar, Apr 11 (UNI): Former CDPO, ICDS Project, Sinapali Block,in Odisha’s Nuapada district Bijaya Laxmi Marandi, was on Friday convicted in a vigilance trap case and sentenced to three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.20,000.

Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna sentenced Marandi to undergo simple imprisonment for 3 years and to pay a fine of Rs.20,000.

The former CDPO was charge-sheeted by the Odisha Vigilance under section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act, 1988 for demanding and taking a bribe of Rs.10,000 from a complainant for passing of bills and releasing payment towards the supply of Chhatua.

The Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the dismissal of Bijaya Laxmi Marandi, former CDPO, from service following her conviction.
