In an impressive move to restore lost and stolen mobile phones, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police hosted a recovery event on April 8, 2025.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jagmohan Meena (IPS), presided over the event at the Commissionerate office in Vani Vihar, where 129 recovered mobile phones were handed over to their rightful owners.
The recovery was a result of collaborative efforts by various police units, including local police stations, Team 60, POPID, and the OCPO Cell, which alone retrieved 50 devices. Other contributors included Pahala and Lingaraj police stations, each recovering 24 phones, while Saheed Nagar and Dhauli police stations retrieved 10 each. Chandrasekharpur and Nandankanan police stations played their part by recovering two phones and two motorcycles.
In 2024, Bhubaneswar police achieved the recovery of 1,153 stolen or lost mobile phones, successfully returning 950 of them to their owners. This accomplishment reflects the commitment of the police to reduce theft and ensure public safety.
Citizens have expressed immense gratitude for the police force’s efficient investigations and recovery operations. The Commissionerate Police continues to encourage the public to report thefts promptly and use available tracking methods to aid law enforcement in their recovery efforts.
