Joda/Barbil/Koida,(Orissa Today) Apr 1: Deep reverence marked the commemoration of the 20th Punyatithi of Om Prakash Jindal, the visionary founder of the O.P. Jindal Group. Fondly remembered as Bauji, Shri Jindal’s legacy was celebrated across the Barbil Pellet Plant, Kasia, and Tensa iron mines through a series of social and spiritual programs organized by Jindal Steel.
The day commenced with an atmosphere of spiritual sanctity, featuring special pujas, prayers, and Geeta Yajna at temples within the respective townships. Employees, community members, and families, led by senior Unit Heads, including Purushotham M D (Barbil Pellet Plant), Pramod Kumar Patra (Kasia Iron & Dolomite Mines), Raghuraj Raghuvanshi (TRB Mines, Tensa) and Ashish Ranjan Mohanty (Head HR & ES), came together to honor Shri Jindal’s divine soul. A soulful Bhajan program organized at Jindal Nagar, Barbil Pellet Plant, drew large gatherings to pay their heartfelt tributes.
The occasion also highlighted Shri Jindal’s enduring commitment to social welfare. Voluntary blood donation camps, organized by the Jindal Foundation in collaboration with Keonjhar and Sundargarh District Blood Banks, led to the collection of over 300 units of blood, showcasing the collective spirit of giving.
Adding to the solemnity, Ladies’ Clubs hosted memorial programs where families, employees, and business associates united in reverent remembrance of Bauji. At Jindal Steel’s Bhubaneswar office, floral tributes were offered, and Prashant Hota, President and Head (Group CSR), emphasized Jindal’s remarkable contributions to industrial growth and inclusive social prosperity under the vision of “Make in India.”
Born on August 7, 1930, in Hisar, Haryana Om Prakash Jindal emerged as a pioneer in the Indian steel industry. As the founder of the OP Jindal Group, a globally recognized business conglomerate, his achievements earned him accolades such as the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2004. Beyond his industrial feats, Jindal served as Haryana’s Minister of Power and a distinguished member of both the Haryana Legislative Assembly and Indian Parliament, leaving an indelible mark on public service.
The observances of his Punyatithi not only reflected his spiritual and social values but also inspired renewed commitment to his legacy of impactful leadership and service.
