Three killed in tragic car-truck collision on NH-57 near Khurda

Bhubaneswar, Feb 22: In a tragic accident, three people lost their lives after the car they were traveling in crashed into a truck on National Highway 57 near Pitapalli Chhak in Odisha’s Khurda district late on Friday night.
The deceased have been identified as Bishwa Chetan Mishra, Bishwaranjan Sethi, and Prashant Pradhan, all residents of Chandrapur area in Puri. According to sources, the impact of the collision was severe, completely crushing the front portion of the car. Two victims died on the spot, while the third was rescued and rushed to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the car driver lost control of the speeding vehicle, causing it to ram into a stationary or slow-moving truck while traveling from Bhubaneswar to Khurda.
Local police arrived at the scene promptly and informed the families of the deceased. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident. Authorities are also examining whether rash driving or poor visibility played a role in the fatal crash.
