Bhubaneswar, Feb 21: A 45-year-old man from Brundaban, identified as Ananta Goswami, has been summoned by police for allegedly recording and sharing videos from inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.
Goswami reportedly posted the footage on January 18 under the social media account “Banke Bihariji Ananta” on platforms like Instagram and Facebook. The videos, showing restricted areas of the 12th-century temple, quickly gained circulation, raising concerns over security breaches at the revered shrine.
Upon discovering the footage, police served a notice to Goswami, directing him to appear for questioning. He complied and appeared before the authorities on Thursday. “A case has been registered under the Temple Act, and his statement has been recorded,” said Puri SP Vinit Agrawal.
Officials are investigating how Goswami managed to bypass security and take a mobile phone inside the temple premises, where photography and videography are strictly prohibited. The incident has sparked concerns over security lapses, and authorities are reviewing measures to prevent similar breaches in the future.
