Bhubaneswar,(Orissa Today) Feb 10: In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old youth was allegedly stoned to death in Dolaba village under the Sanakhemundi block of Ganjam district. The body was found near the edge of a farmland, while his bike was lying about 10 feet away on the road on Monday.
Upon receiving the information, Patapur police station IIC Diptri Ranjan Behera and his team rushed to the spot and began an investigation with the assistance of forensic experts and sniffer dogs. The deceased has been identified as Rajat Goud, a resident of Podamari village.
Reports suggest that Rajat’s head was smashed with a stone, leading to his tragic death. His body was sent for post-mortem examination at MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
The crime came to light when villagers noticed a bike lying unattended on the road and initially suspected an accident. However, upon further inspection, they discovered Rajat’s body nearby with severe head injuries and immediately alerted the police.
While the exact motive remains unclear, the circumstances suggest a premeditated murder. Police have intensified their probe and are examining all possible angles to identify and apprehend the culprits.
