Bhubaneswar, Jan 10: The Commissionerate Police have seized a luxury car belonging to con woman Hansita Abhilipsa, who is accused of defrauding wealthy individuals of crores of rupees by impersonating relatives of high-ranking bureaucrats and political leaders.
The car, valued at over Rs 60 lakh, was confiscated from a luxury apartment in Bhubaneswar during a raid conducted by the Special Crime Unit.
Hansita, along with her accomplice Anil Mohanty, was found staying in a flat within a high-end residential complex. The police seized the vehicle after Hansita failed to provide any information regarding its purchase, including the date and location.
Following the completion of their one-day police remand, both Hansita and Anil were returned to jail as officials from the Income Tax (I-T) department continued their investigation at the residence.
Reports indicate that Hansita owns three flats in the upscale Z1 apartments in Bhubaneswar, one of which she shared with Anil. During the search, authorities discovered several significant documents, prompting extended interrogations of both suspects by I-T and police officials.
Additionally, Hansita’s husband, Saroj Sahu, was arrested by the I-T department, while Congress leader Manoj underwent lengthy questioning, along with his father and brother, as part of the ongoing investigation into the fraud.
