Bhubaneswar, Jan 10: Odisha, currently experiencing a severe cold wave, is expected to see a rise in night temperatures by 2-4°C over the next 24 hours due to a western disturbance, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Friday.
The IMD has issued a dense fog warning for Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Koraput, and Sundargarh districts until the morning of January 13. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog is likely in Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapada districts until January 12 morning, and in Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Puri districts until January 13.
In the past 24 hours, temperatures dropped to 10°C or below at 13 locations. G Udayagiri in Kandhamal was the coldest at 5.4°C, followed by Semiliguda (7.2°C), Phulbani (7.5°C), and Jharsuguda (7.6°C).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 12.8°C each, with Bhubaneswar’s temperature falling 2.3°C below normal, highlighting the ongoing chilly conditions.
