Bhubaneswar, Jan 9: Odisha is expected to experience chilly weather conditions for an additional two days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has forecasted a rise in night temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius thereafter.
On Thursday, the IMD also issued a warning for dense fog in certain areas, particularly in Sundargarh, Kandhamal, and Koraput districts, until the morning of January 11. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog may affect visibility in Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Angul, and Dhenkanal during this period.
Over the past 24 hours, Koraput has experienced very dense fog, significantly reducing visibility to below 50 meters, while moderate fog was reported in Phulbani.
The MeT office highlighted that G Udayagiri, a hill station in Kandhamal, recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 5.2°C. Jharsuguda reported the season’s lowest night temperature of 6°C, which is 5.8°C below normal. Other areas experiencing cold temperatures include Rourkela (6.4°C), Phulbani (6.8°C), Semiliguda in Koraput (7.1°C), Daringbadi (8°C), and others, with cold, dry air moving from the northwest contributing to the dip in temperatures.
