Electrical malfunction disrupts Jharsuguda-Gondia train, no injuries reported

Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: Passengers aboard the Jharsuguda-Gondia train had a narrow escape on Tuesday when a short circuit occurred as the train was entering Jharsuguda station in Odisha.
According to sources, the incident happened while the passenger train was approaching platform 2 of Jharsuguda Junction. A technical malfunction led to a short circuit, resulting in an immediate power outage for all compartments and a loud noise that startled the passengers.
Thick smoke quickly filled the bogies as several electrical components in the compartments malfunctioned and blew out. Panic ensued among the passengers, who screamed for help, fearing a serious accident had occurred. Fortunately, railway authorities later confirmed that all passengers, crew members, and individuals on the platform were safe, with no injuries reported.
Railway staff and a technical team responded promptly, conducting a thorough inspection and undertaking necessary repairs. As the train was detained on the platform for over an hour, rail services on the route were briefly disrupted. However, normal operations resumed once the repairs were completed, ensuring the safety of all involved.
