Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), Nov 25: The Odisha government is taking steps to resolve issues faced by applicants of the Subhadra Yojana in linking their mobile phone numbers and Aadhaar details, and enabling their accounts for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The Women and Child Development department has been unable to process around 7.68 lakh applications due to non-compliance, technical problems, and delays in field verification.
While 80.45 lakh beneficiaries have already received assistance under the scheme, approximately 5.6 lakh verified applications are still pending because they are either not DBT-enabled or have incomplete mobile and Aadhaar linkages. Additionally, 2.08 lakh applications have yet to be reverified after being rejected due to issues like land ownership, family members owning a four-wheeler, or government employment.
To address these challenges, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced the deployment of ‘bank mitras’ to assist over five lakh applicants in resolving their bank account issues. These bank mitras, who assist Self-Help Groups (SHGs), will now help Subhadra applicants. Parida emphasized that banks have been instructed to resolve procedural issues swiftly. Despite earlier promises to reverify 2.67 lakh rejected applications, only 22% have been processed so far.
