Odisha: Mother and daughter fall from train, resulting in limb loss

Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), Oct 18: A mother and her four-year-old daughter suffered severe injuries after falling from a train at Singapur Road railway station in Odisha’s Rayagada district. The mother, identified as Ratika Chandana, lost both of her hands and one leg, while her other leg was fractured. The young girl reportedly lost her right hand and one leg in the incident.
The accident occurred as the family was attempting to board the Korba Express train. While the father successfully boarded the train during its brief stop, Ratika and her daughter slipped, leading to the tragic fall.
They were rescued by the Government Railway Police and taken to Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition. Due to the deterioration of their health, both were later transferred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
According to a relative, the family had been in the area to attend the last rites of a relative, and the incident occurred as they were returning home.
