Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), Sept 26: In another burglary incident in Bhubaneswar, looters struck an apartment in the Bomikhal area, making off with gold ornaments and cash belonging to a local woman. Sources indicate that the thieves took the woman’s wedding ring and four gold earrings while she was at work. They also stole ₹16,000 in cash that she had withdrawn for personal expenses.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another theft, where a scientist lost over half a kilogram of gold jewelry from his luxurious apartment in the Chandaka area of the city.
The recent spate of burglaries has seen criminals targeting homes when residents are typically away at work. In this latest case, the victim, identified as S. Triveni, locked her flat and left for the office around 10 a.m. The burglars took advantage of her absence, breaking the lock and entering her home around noon to steal her valuables.
Sources report that the burglars specifically focused on gold items and cash, leaving other belongings untouched. The manner of the break-in suggests that these thieves are professionals, as they used sophisticated tools to gain entry.
