Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), Sept 16: In a tragic incident on Monday, a woman was killed after being run over by a speeding bus while waiting at a bus stop in Karadapalli village, Khandapada area, Nayagarh district, Odisha. The incident occurred in the morning, under the jurisdiction of Khandapara police station.
Following the incident, enraged locals blocked the highway, placing the woman’s body on the road and staging a protest. They demanded compensation for the victim’s family.
Reports indicate that the woman was waiting for a bus when a private passenger bus traveling from Baghamari lost control and ran over her. She died instantly from the impact of the speeding vehicle.
The driver was apprehended and beaten by the locals. Police quickly arrived at the scene to restore order. The woman’s body was recovered and sent for autopsy, and a case has been filed against the driver, who has been detained by the police.
