Double murder over alleged love affair leaves Odisha village in shock

Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), July 15: A tragic double murder allegedly stemming from a love affair shook Kashipada village in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. According to sources, Pratap Lakra (26) and Lipsa Kerketa (24), residents of Rumabahal and Kashipada respectively, were brutally killed on Sunday night.
Lipsa, who was preparing for an MBA examination, and Pratap, her classmate, fell victim to the attack. The accused, identified as Raju Nag, a driver who was reportedly romantically involved with Lipsa, had allegedly been harassing her mentally for some time, affecting her studies, as per the woman’s mother.
The incident unfolded when Raju visited Lipsa’s residence on Sunday night, seeking to take her away. In a fit of rage, he forcefully confined Lipsa in a room and attacked her with a sharp weapon. Pratap intervened to rescue her but was also fatally injured in the confrontation.
Despite being rushed to the Kutra Community Health Centre (CHC), both Lipsa and Pratap succumbed to their injuries. Raju fled the scene after the crime, leaving behind a community devastated by the tragic events.
