Vedanta Aluminium Promotes Health and Wellness on International Yoga Day

Jharsuguda, (Orissa Today) June 23 : Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, marked International Yoga Day with extensive community yoga sessions, emphasizing this year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Self and Society’. The event saw enthusiastic participation from Vedanta’s employees, their families, and local community members.

Held globally on June 21, International Yoga Day highlights the physical and mental benefits of yoga. Vedanta Jharsuguda, home to the world’s largest aluminium plant, leveraged this occasion to promote health and well-being among the local population. The company organized yoga sessions at Mission Ashra, a home for destitute individuals, and Jharsuguda Airport, in partnership with the District Administration and the Rotary Club of Jharsuguda.

Vedanta Jharsuguda’s healthcare initiatives include the Vedanta Nand Ghars, modernized anganwadis providing education, nutrition, healthcare, and skill development. Their Mobile Health Units deliver quality healthcare to over 27 villages, and advanced diagnostic centres in Jharsuguda and Laikera offer affordable radiology and pathology tests.

Supporting the Government of India’s ‘Nikshay Mitra’ program, Vedanta aids tuberculosis patients with nutrition and healthcare, benefitting over 200,000 people annually.

Appreciating the efforts, Sanjay Jetty of People’s Forum and Sandeep Kumar Tiwari, Airport Director, acknowledged the positive impact of Vedanta’s health and wellness initiatives on the community.
