BJD leader V K Pandian resurfaces in Delhi amidst party’s electoral debacle

Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), June 6: Following the electoral setback of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha, V K Pandian, a bureaucrat-turned-politician, has resurfaced in New Delhi after remaining out of public sight.

Sources indicate that Pandian arrived in the capital on a Vistara flight, landing at Delhi airport around 11:10 pm on Wednesday night. However, Pandian’s next course of action remains uncertain, considering his significant role as the second-most prominent campaigner for the BJD during the 2024 twin elections in the state.

As a trusted confidant of BJD president Naveen Patnaik, Pandian had maintained a low profile since the announcement of the election results on June 4. Regarded as the second-in-command within the BJD hierarchy, Pandian played a pivotal role in orchestrating the party’s election strategy and campaign.

Despite Pandian’s assurances of a resounding victory for the BJD and Naveen Patnaik’s anticipated sixth term as Chief Minister, the party faced a crushing defeat at the hands of the BJP in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Pandian’s absence from public view, particularly alongside Naveen Patnaik, raised eyebrows, considering his consistent presence by the BJD leader’s side.
