Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), May 23: In a tragic incident in Ganjam district of Odisha, one person died while saving two workers who were cleaning a well.
Reports indicate that the rescuer, Dibakar Sahu of Naranpur village, died of suffocation after rushing in to save the two workers. Another person, Dhraba Charan Raut of Siddeshwar village, has been admitted to the medical center in critical condition. The accident occurred in Digapahandi during the desilting of the well.
The incident took place early this morning when the two workers entered the well to remove soil and silt, leading to suffocation. The fire brigade team quickly arrived at the scene, rescuing the affected individuals and admitting them to the medical center. Sadly, Dibakar was declared dead upon arrival.
The police have arrived at the spot and are conducting an investigation into the incident.
