Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), May 13: Nearly two weeks after canceling a scheduled trip, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to resume campaigning in Odisha, with plans to address a public gathering in Balangir on May 15.
According to Odisha Congress in-charge Ajoy Kumar, Rahul will arrive in Bhubaneswar at approximately 11 am, proceeding directly to Balangir for the public meeting around 11:30 am. Additionally, Rahul is expected to participate in a bike rally in the western Odisha town.
Kumar also announced that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will visit Odisha on May 16, attending a public meeting in Kandhamal and holding a press conference in Bhubaneswar on the same day.
Furthermore, senior Congress leader and former Union minister Jairam Ramesh is scheduled to hold a press conference in Odisha on May 14.
Rahul had initiated his campaign in Odisha from Salepur in Cuttack district on April 28, but had to address an election rally in Rayagada district via video message on May 3 due to prior commitments related to filing his nomination papers for the Raebareli Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh.
Expressing enthusiasm about Rahul’s visit, Congress candidate for the Balangir assembly seat, Samarendra Mishra, stated, “He has a special connection with the people of western Odisha. His visit and poll rally will boost our confidence, and we anticipate a significant victory.”
