Odisha weather update: Clear skies expected as temperature rebounds

Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), May 13: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a period of fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall in Odisha on May 13-14, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds clocking at 40-50 kmph. The IMD issued a yellow warning, indicating the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall in the state on May 13.

Specifically, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected in Keonjhar, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts, with similar conditions possible in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and several other districts.

Additionally, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are anticipated in coastal and South Interior Odisha, extending to a few places in other districts.

On May 14, a yellow warning remains in place for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in select districts, with light to moderate rain also expected in certain areas of South and North Odisha.

The IMD has advised caution for regions including Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur, with the possibility of thunderstorms and rain.

While no further weather warnings have been issued, light to moderate rain may persist in parts of South Odisha over the next two days. The MeT office also anticipates a slight increase in daytime temperatures across Odisha by 2-4 degrees Celsius after the mentioned period.
